About Julian

The podcast first went out as Trendifier before it took Julian’s name. The format is usually one guest and one conversation, with no rush. Most episodes run between an hour and a half and four hours, and about half pass the three-hour mark. The show has passed 470 numbered episodes. Full conversations are released on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and many also go out as an early release a few days before the public version.

Most guests come with first-hand knowledge of a story. Recent ones include Joby Warrick, a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and national security reporter at the Washington Post; Mariana van Zeller, an Emmy-winning journalist whose shows have run on National Geographic; Nick Bryant, the journalist who first published Jeffrey Epstein’s black book and jet passenger logs; Ed Calderon, a former cartel cop and security specialist with more than 15 years in public safety on Mexico’s northern border; Peter Schiff, a stockbroker and financial commentator; and Baron Coleman, a trial lawyer and investigator. Between guest episodes Julian records solo shows on the news. The subjects run from cartels, geopolitics, intelligence and true crime to markets, history, science and technology. The format stays long so a guest can tell the whole story, with the context and the detail, instead of the version that fits in a clip.

The main channel carries the full conversations, and three more YouTube channels sit beside it: Julian Dorey Clips for the strongest moments, Julian Dorey Daily for daily stories and conversations, and Best of JDP for highlights. Around the show there is a Patreon with early, uncensored episode releases, the Clippers Discord, and the Pure Spec Dispatch newsletter, which sends new episodes, standout moments and announcements by email.
